Housing market sees a slow start to 2010

Nationwide Building Society has reported that house prices rose by 0.7% in March balancing out the loss of 0.8% reported in February. However, the housing market has had a sluggish start to the year with a rise of 1.6% in the last quarter compared to 1.8% in the previous 3 months and mortgage applications not rising from the dip seen at the start of the year

Budget 2010

After much speculation Alistair Darling has delivered the final budget before the General Election and possibly the last one of his career as Chancellor. The speech certainly struck a ‘wait and see’ tone and was highly political with only a few major announcements, those that were made contained little detail which will hopefully become clearer at a later date

Which way is inflation heading? Does anyone know?

Only last week the Bank of England said that they believed inflation would stay higher than their target of 2% for some time to come, this may still be true but latest official figures indicate that at least one measure of inflation has decreased over the past month
